Pam Pointer

Welcome

Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you'll have time to explore the different pages and find something to interest, amuse, encourage - and even inspire you. My goal is to communicate effectively - primarily as a writer, but also as a speaker and photographer.

On this page you'll find a Thought For The Month; elsewhere there is a gallery of photographs, some poems as well as details of my books. All this provides an opportunity for me to share with you something of what makes me tick and shapes my world view.

I'd be pleased to hear from you. Please email me if you'd like to get in touch.

Three new poems are on the Poetry Page.

A new set of my pictures, entitled, "The Power and the Glory" is now in the Photo Gallery. Take a look at some stunning sunrises, sunsets and sky images!

February File

The longest Grand Slam tennis match ever was played out at the end of January in Melbourne, Australia. The protagonists, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic battled for more than five hours in a gruelling display of skill, strength and stamina. At the end of the match they stood to applaud each other’s achievements and make their speeches.

Smiling through their sweat, each of them, with sincere grace, thanked their opponent, their teams their opponent’s teams, the spectators, the sponsors and anyone else they could think of, for a memorable tournament and unforgettable final match.

The two men then stood together with one of the greatest players of the 20th century, Rod Laver, for a photo-call. Here, personified, were grace in defeat, grace in winning, and grace in acknowledging two of the great 21st century players.

Do you and I speak and behave with grace? To do so when we feel good is one thing – and that’s difficult enough - but to do so after hours of hard work or when we feel exhausted or after disappointment is something else. Jesus was described as being ‘full of grace and truth.’ New Testament letters often begin with the words, “Grace, mercy and peace, be to you…” Grace has a feel-good factor. Let’s ask the God of grace to help us put it into practice.
